Aftercare Instructions for Tattoos
DAY 1 3
1. Wash your tattoo 4 5 times daily with a mild antibacterial soap and pat dry with a soft CLEAN cloth DO NOT RUB.
2. After Washing your tattoo, apply a very thin layer of A & D ointment, Bacitracin, triple antibiotic ointment or INK FIXX. DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN, OR VASALINE!
DAY 3 30
During this aftercare, your tattoo will itch. the itching feeling is part of your tattoos healing process - DO NOT ITCH your tattoo, you may damage the healing skin causing the tattoo to have light spots - DO NOT ITCH
1. Wash your tattoo 2 3 times daily with a mild antibacterial soap and pat dry with a soft CLEAN cloth AGAIN - DO NOT RUB.
2. Discontinue use of A & D ointment on your tattoo. Instead apply a vitamin E moisturizing lotion 6 10 times daily - This will help with your healing and keep the itching down.
DO NOT:
DO NOT expose your new tattoo to direct sunlight for 1 month.
DO NOT allow your new tattoo to dry out.
DO NOT soak your new tattoo in water. This means no swimming or baths. (Showers are fine, but try not to let your new tattoo to get very wet.)
DO NOT scratch or pick at your new tattoo.
DO NOT apply gauze or bandages to your new tattoo for any reason.
THESE CARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE A MAJOR PART OF THE HEALING PROCESS FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO. THE TATTOO IS NOW YOURS, SO PLEASE TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT.
Once you are finished healing your tattoo, you can apply lotions, like TATTOO GOO LOTION to keep your colors looking bright and it is also good for your skin
Aftercare Instructions for Piercings
Navel
Clean and disinfect daily and turn ring from one end to the other. Scabs that form on either end of the piercing should be left alone. Avoid saunas, solarium, swimming and bathing as the tissue may swell and soften (Danger of infection). Do not wear a belt or tight fitting clothing over the navel till the piercing is completely healed. On sitting down the waist band should be loosened to reduce pressure on the tissue. During the healing process a scab will form and the puncture site may ooze slightly (lymph). This is a sign that healing is taking place. The oozing may get onto the ring, and when dry is like a scab. This should be removed from the ring using warm water and slowly turning the ring. This is done best under the shower.
Eyebrow
Clean and disinfect daily and turn ring from one end to the other. Apply disinfectant on both ends of the ring. During the first few weeks apply a gauze over the ring before retiring at night. Avoid sunbathing, sauna etc.. During the healing process a scab will form and the puncture site may ooze slightly (lymph). This is a sign that healing is taking place. The oozing may get onto the ring and when dry is like a scab. This should be removed from the ring using warm water and slowly turning the ring. This is done best under the shower.
Tongue
During the first 3 hours avoid eating, drinking alcohol and smoking. Gargle with mouthwash and drink lots of water. Healing will take 5-10 days during which time you must avoid beer, alcohol and snacks or sweets between main meals. Intimate oral activities should be avoided. Brush your teeth after each meal. Use Listerine after each drink, cigarette, or food. During the first 3 days you may experience difficulties in speaking, chewing and swallowing as the tongue will be somewhat swollen. Ice cubes are helpful to keep the swelling down. The hole will close after eight hours if no jewelry is inserted.
Ear, earlobe and nose Piercing
Clean and disinfect daily and turn ring or stud from one end to the other. Apply disinfectant on both ends or the ring or stud. During the healing process a scab will form and the puncture site may ooze slightly (lymph). This is a sign that healing is taking place. The oozing may get onto the ring or stud and when dry is like a scab. This should be removed from the ring or stud using warm water and slowly turning the ring or stud.
Lip Piercing
During the first 3 hours avoid eating, drinking alcohol and smoking. Healing will take 10 days. Disinfect several times daily behind the ball closure.
Nipple
Clean and disinfect daily and turn ring from one end to the other. Scabs that form on either end of the piercing should be left alone. During the first 3 weeks avoid swimming, bathing, sauna etc. due to a raised chance of infection from tissue softening. Cover with gauze during sun tanning. During the healing process a scab will form and the puncture site may ooze slightly (lymph). The oozing may get onto the ring and when dry is like a scab. This should be removed from the ring using warm water and slowly turning the ring. This is done best under the shower.
